My professor just got back from a national physical education meeting. The topic of the meeting was about fitness testing in schools. The want to eliminate the pull-up from fitness testing. They said 60% of the student couldn't do one pull! Thats ridiculous! They want to implement a flexed arm hang, where you just have to hold on to the bar as long as you can. The unfitness epidemic continues!

the only way to solve problems of security, religion, and physical fitness in schools in the USA is to privatize all the schools. (yes, it would be difficult transition but after a few years the costs would drop and the competition between schools to be the best and have the best students would prevail) My brothers went to Detroit Country Day, I went to Cranbrook and both schools are incredibly balanced between spirit, mind and body. Private schools can impliment any rules they please within set laws...public schools CANNOT. At Cranbrook we didn't have fat kids, all overweight kids got placed on special diets, training regimes and were all supported by the staff and student body with love and respect. It was amazing how many kids went in fat and with no self esteem and came out healthy.
