Pre Meet Nutrition
my step son is doing a bench meet this weekend (nattie) and he plans on pizza and a few beers (seriously?). the alcohol seems rediculous to me but i see everyone doing it.

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
Ummm, IW mentioned on another thread about carb loading before contest, so you will fill out. Looking solid and thick.Something to the effect of Arnold being 199, and jumping up to 240 after 3 weeks. Not sure, as I have not yet competed but this sounds like some heavy duty carb and sodium load to me.

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
He's not leading for looks. He's loading to supersaturate his body so he will hit the predicted PR's he and his team have set for him. His training is designed for him to peak at the meet and as we all know food will help him greatly.
The beer imho is a bad idea. We all know alcohol has adverse effects on the body so I would tell him to drop the beer and I would def stuff my face after the weigh in.

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
I have a few friends who drink beer for there premeet ritual. I personally don't think it's a smart but remember the placebo effect. If they really think that it'll work, than it probably will help to a degree. Our mindset can be the deciding factor in completing a lift or not.

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
i learned the hard way about loading and eating during a comp. bombo on every event and get hurt...
now i know what to do. last comp i ate so much after weigh in i was in pain. but my energy levels were up and i felt really good. nothing wrong with a beer or 2. they are loaded with carbs!

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
My bench partner drinks quite a bit of beer. I am not going to lecture him as he is pushing 565lbs at meets. Never a good idea but to each his own.....

That was 199 to 222 in 101 days....about 1 1/2lbs a week.
Alcohol will deplete the body of water....not a good thing for lifting a max.

Re: Pre Meet Nutrition
I simply add "NO" to alcohol it always show negative effects like increasing Visceral fat so on.
Please stop of alcohol intake by your step son.
