    he suggested this to me about a month ago and its worked like a charm, just thought id share to help others who might be struggling with calves.

    Do 30 to 40 minutes of cardio, to tire out your slow twitch muscle fibers.

    Then do 2 drop sets of whatever calf excercise you like (I do them on Hack squat, and my calves stay sore for about 3days!) 3 or 4 drops in each set should suffice, to get to the fast twitch fibers

    the fast twitch fibers will also tire out during your cardio exercise

    i dont know the differance between fast or slow,,but betwwen the 30 mins of treadmill and my calf workout today ,,im walking like a bow-legged pirate.lol......

    it is all about mioglobin.the fast twitch fibers are poor in mioglobin so they use glycogen as source of energy.the slow twitch fibers are full of mioglobin so the use oxygen as main source of energy.
    when you are doing exercises that require large amount of force/strentgh you use your fast twitch fibers..when you do exercises that require resistence you use your slow twitch fibers.
    the fast ones are white.the slow ones are red...

    I used to stay on tip-toes between sets and exercises for the duration of my calf workouts, the pain was almost unbearable.

    I found that worked really well, I don't do it anymore as my training partner was to ashamed of me prancing around like a ballet dancer and insisted I stop.

    If I add this to my leg days going up a set of stairs will KILL me.  thnx for the info.
